Tbilisi – Jvari: 25 kmWe suggest you to start the journey at the ancient Jvari monastery. The first monks settled here in the 6th century. From the view point, you will see Mtskheta and the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. The water in the rivers is of different colors, and this is especially noticeable from above.Important: It is often windy near Jvari; take your jackets with you.Jvari – Mtskheta: 11 kmThe driver will take you to Mtskheta. In ancient times, it was the capital of Georgia, and now it is a cozy town with a renovated European-style center. Here you can buy delicious churchkhela and other traditional sweets.Visit the 11th century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral to see the Chiton of Jesus, unique frescoes with the zodiac calendar, and the burial places of the Bagrationi royal dynasty.Mtskheta – Samtavro: 2 kmThe Samtavro convent is known far beyond Georgia: King Mirian and Queen Nana, who were the first to adopt Christianity in Georgia in 324, are buried here.After the walk, the driver can take you to one of the home cafes on the banks of a mountain river or to the famous Georgian restaurant Salobio.Mtskheta – Tbilisi: 25 kmThe price includes a return transfer to Tbilisi. Tbilisi – Gori: 85 kmGori is widely known as Joseph Stalin’s birthplace. The Joseph Stalin Museum is the city's main draw. You will see many of his personal belongings, his own saloon car, and the house he lived in as a child. Gori is also interesting as the oldest city in Georgia. You will be able to visit the medieval fortress of Goristsikhe, which began to be built in the 6th century. It overlooks the Liakhva and Kura rivers.Gori – Uplistsikhe: 14.6 kmAfter Gori, the driver will bring you to the unique cave city of Uplistsikhe, carved into the volcanic rock. This was one of the first cities mentioned on Georgian territory in the first millennium BC.This place was a large pagan center where sacrifices and rituals were held before the adoption of Christianity.There were more than 700 cave structures in Uplistsikhe. Now it is a museum-reserve: 150 caves available for tourists.Uplistsikhe – Tbilisi: 99 kmAfter a walk, the driver will take you back to Tbilisi and, if you wish, will advise you about some cafes or restaurants where you can have dinner. Tbilisi – Bodbe: 110 kmThe first stop on this route will be the Bodbe Monastery. It began to be built in the 9th century but was significantly rebuilt in the 17th century. The relics of St. Nino, who converted Georgians to Christianity, are kept here. Bodbe’s territory is very beautiful and well-groomed, with flower beds and vineyards. From the viewpoint, you will see all of Alazani Valley, and if you walk down, you will find the holy spring.Bodbe – Sighnaghi: 2 kmAfter Bodbe you will go to Sighnaghi, a small town with the best view of the Alazani Valley and the Greater Caucasus Range. Thanks to the round-the-clock wedding palace, Sighnaghi became famous as a city of love. But much more interesting are the fortified walls (5 km long, 18th century) that surrounded the town. You can walk along them and enjoy the views.Sighnaghi – Khareba winery: 49 kmKakheti is the main wine region of Georgia, so the trip wouldn’t be complete without wine tasting. The driver will take you to the Khareba winery, the biggest Georgian wine producer. Also, you will visit a part of the 8-kilometer-long tunnel carved into the rock, which stores almost 25,000 bottles of wine. For an additional fee, you can taste the wines and then buy them.The last point of the route is Gremi. Previously, this ancient city was the capital of Kakheti, but in the 17th century, it was destroyed by the Persians. Only Gremi Castle on a high hill has survived. This is the complex of the Archangel temple and monastery, where you can see unique frescoes from the 16th century.Gremi – Tbilisi: 115 kmAfter a walk through the Gremi complex you will return to Tbilisi.
